About Towel Heads
Well, My name is Estelle but you can call me Stelle and this is my tennis blog called towel heads. The reason for it being called towel heads is because tennis players often do it at breaks to get them in the ‘zone’. So, this will be a blog about focussing on tennis. I am 14 years old and live in Brisbane, Australia. I love playing and watching tennis(when its on, that is) I am a major fan of:
- Ernests Gulbis
- Fernando Verdasco
- Caroline Wozniacki
- Sorana Cirstea
- Igor Kunitsyn
- Dinara Safina
- Marat Safin
- Ana Ivanovic
- Sam Stosur
- Lleyton Hewitt
- Chris Guccione
And yer, I don’t like Andy Murray! AT ALL (I thought i should let you know before someone accuses me of bias!)
I am new to this sort of stuff. Give me a break!
Enjoy!

lol, yer i never liked lleyton but when i saw him at Wimbly he seemed nice…but i didn’t like him when he was younger, he thought he was the best..haha Marat it’s a shame he isn’t playing his best tennis though
And yes, he is very well liked in Australia especially by the younger adults.. If you saw any of his matches at wimbly all his fans would dress up and make war cries!

towel head - A derogatory term for one of Middle Eastern descent, especially a male. It comes from their custom of wearing a turban.
Are you aware of this, Estelle?

Hi Milena,
Yes, i am aware of this. Someone else also asked me this as well. As i explain in my about section, it is clearly stated that it means that tennis players do this to focus on the game. This is why I named it that. A blog about focussing on tennis. I don’t see any reason for offence taken when i have cleared explained the meaning. If people want to take it the wrong way, they can. However, that is not what the meaning is here on towelheads.wordpress.com
If you have any more questions, please ask!

Yes, obviously you did not mean anything else by it, I read your about section. But it just comes across as a bit thoughtless. It might not mean much to you, but you have to think about how it comes across to first time visitors. Personally, it irks to me every time I check out your site. For every person that mentions it to you, there are many, many others that notice it, but don’t bother. I know you like this name, and if you really want it, stick to it. But as your blog grows bigger, do you really want to be explaining to more and more people that you mean no offense? If you’re not sure, change it before the the traffic goes up.
All the best!

Thanks for the tips! How can I change it though, you can’t change the URL? Which is annoying. If I was to change it, what could it be? I like the name, but if people do keep asking, than yes, i should change it!
Thanks
