Guess whose back?

I am currently on holidays so that is why the blog has been out of it for the past month or so. I am still on holidays but back home.

I am sure everyone is aware of the comeback announcement of Justine Henin. Yes, Kim Clijsters and Juan Martin Del Potro won the US. Cos you have probably heard soo much about it im just gonna skip all that crap and get on with the happenings of this week.
Tournaments this week:

-Tokyo (WTA)
– Bangkok (ATP)
-Kuala Lumpur (ATP)

So far, Tokyo has been the most surprising with a bundle of the top seeds out. Including:

Dinara Safina
Nadia Petrova
Venus Williams
Elena Dementieva
Svetlana Kuznetsova
Caroline Wozniacki (retired)
Vera Zvonareva
Ana Ivanovic (no surprise there)
Flavia Pennetta

Waiting…..

US2

It started raining/drizzling after the Rafa/Gonzo match.  But apparently, they are drying off the courts now but it is still a very light drizzle so hopefully the women’s first semi final will be able to get underway.

Meanwhile, Kim-C uploaded a few photos from her website, kimclijsters.be <<If you wanna check them all out.

US OPEN WRAP (1st Edt)

Yes, it has been a looooooongggg time since i have updated this thing so here is my attempt to give you the lowdown on the whole 10 days of the US OPEN!!

I have to admit, i was pretty happy with most of the results (minus ernie, sam, rogowska and basically all the aussies).  So close, but yet so far.  Anyway, i am currently typed with a jarred finger so here is my attempt.  Eeek

Well, to kick things off Dina scraped past Aussie sensation and up and comer Olivia Rogowska in 3 tight sets.  Sucks to be liv as she had like a break in the third ehh..

US2

Ana Ivanovic, has had some of the most dissapointing results this season and to top it off, she lost to K-Bond in 3.  😐

Here are some Air Quotes:

It’s no secret that this is the most difficult time of my career so far. Losing in the first round of the US Open hurt a great deal, I can tell you that.

I feel mentally exhausted. This season has been very difficult in terms of my health and form: even though I’m in great shape in terms of my stamina and speed, I’ve been picking up so many small injuries. Just when I felt like I was close to getting back into my rhythm, I would feel pain in a new place, and then I’d feel like I’m starting all over again.

It’s obviously affected my confidence and I’ve overanalysed it too, and let if affect me far too much – not just the injuries, but my desire to get back to the top.

I feel like I haven’t had a proper break in such a long time. Now I think the best thing to do is to take a week or two off, to totally switch off from tennis, and come back refreshed for my next tournament, which is in Tokyo at the end of the month.

After that I will play in Beijing: they’re two big tournaments, so there is still a lot to play for. It would be great to end the season on a high, going into next year.

Thanks a lot for all your messages of suport. It has been very touching to read them in the past couple of days. At the same time, I would like you all to know that I am fine! Of course, I am very disappointed, but I am really optimistic for the future too!

Another upset and awesome run to the quarters was america’s new sweet heart Melanie Oudin.  She beat Lena-D in the 2nd round not to mention Lena was the Women’s champ for the US OPEN Series.

She then went on to beat Pova and Nads not to mention she came back from a set down in all of them and was injured too. See photos 🙂 No doubt she will be one to watch. She was beaten in the quarters by Boots, 6-2 6-2, sucks. i was going for her, mainly cos of her shoes.  Her boyfriend came up with the Believe thing on the side… awwUS8

                         Awesomeness.

US1

Notice anything different?  Well Makiri was dropped for the Stella McCartney range and to be honest she looks wayyy skinnier and the extra 10kg of fabric would not have helped either.  She had an excellent run to the 3rd round, beating Agi, before being defeated by Na Li.  😥

Roger. Was. Roger.  And so was Mirka looking Fantabulous is her style.  Please adopt me Mrs Federer?

Anyway, Roger was taken to 4 sets by R-Sod and L-Hew, but was the winner in the end on both occasions (obv much) He is set to Face the Djoko in the Semi’s with Djok beating FeVer. 😦
