Waiting…..

US2

It started raining/drizzling after the Rafa/Gonzo match.  But apparently, they are drying off the courts now but it is still a very light drizzle so hopefully the women’s first semi final will be able to get underway.

Meanwhile, Kim-C uploaded a few photos from her website, kimclijsters.be <<If you wanna check them all out.

US5That’s how long it took Rafa to demolish Gonzo in their rain interrupted match from Thursday.  They finally took to the court with the match at a 2nd set tiebreak.

US4

Rafa won all of the points to go to a two set lead.  He went to a 2-0 lead before Fernando took a time out and got his ankle/foot strapped.

us7

It didn’t help.

us8

Gonzo lost the third set 6-0 and Rafa set up a semi final berth with Elf tomorrow.  Rafael was solid. Gonzalez was, crap.  So many unforced errors lost him the match. I guess he was going for too much.

Vamos Rafa…..

PostPoned.

No matches were played today as heavy rainfall drenched the courts.  I think this will teach the players a lesson as to stop saying they don’t need a frickening roof.

I got up at 4am to watch it to be pissed off and waited till 6 for 30minute updates.  I was ecstatic the night before as i was briefly looking at was on my free to air channels (don’ t have fox 😦 boo) to see the tennis.  They kept showing live cross backs to Flushing Meadows and Ashe looked like a swimming pool (literally)

us5So yer. It is screwed up and they kept on saying they may play the Gonzo/Rafa match until they decided it was never going to stop so here are todays drenched and blow dryed out photos. Lol.

us2

The players practiced on indoor courts as the rain kept on coming.

Aweee and the warm fuzzy feeling comes back. 🙂

In the player lounge chatting and relaxing. Been here since 10 and they’re still hoping we’ll play. Rain’s pretty constant though!

Veeganic

Venus goes organic with her 100% organic Cotton shirt!

100%organiccotton

I want one, Who wants one?

Q & A With Vee:

USOpen.org: What was your inspiration for the design of the shirt? How did you come up with it?

Venus Williams: The inspiration was just trying to find the connection between tennis and green. So the inspiration behind the shirt was kind of a tennis fruit tree. That kind of met the two connections and the messaging behind it — if you love the planet and you love people, you will do your best to conserve. That is where it all ties in.

USOpen.org: With your design and tennis talent, it seems you were a natural fit for this project. What was your reaction to hearing about it?

Venus Williams: I love a design challenge. There was not a lot of time, and I was actually heading to a tournament, so it took me about a week to really get my ideas together between the matches. I was in Stanford, Calif., part of the Olympus US Open Series, and just before I flew out there I got the call, ‘Let’s do a t-shirt.’ It was exciting, and I was very relieved when all of the designs got done.

USOpen.org: How did you feel when you saw the finished shirt?

Venus Williams: Of course, I was happy to see it in completion. It was kind of hard to decide quickly on designs and colors. I like to sit on things, but that is not always possible.

USOpen.org: Why is it so important to be promoting the Green Initiatives at the US Open?

Venus Williams: This is a huge tournament. It is the biggest sporting event in the United States. What better opportunity to let people know and let people be more aware that the top athletes are concerned about the environment and they should be, too!
